Some books sneak up on you and rewire the way you think about a whole subgenre, and Letters of Grace did exactly that for me.
Brooks and Emryn are a married couple who have, somewhere along the way, quietly stopped truly seeing each other. What unfolds isn't a dramatic blowup so much as the slow, aching unraveling of two people who genuinely love each other but have forgotten how to protect what they have. T. Bell tells that story from both sides, and neither character gets to be simply the wronged party.
The dual POV is the beating heart of this book. You understand Brooks feeling blindsided, and you understand Emryn having nothing left to give, both at the same time, which is a genuinely hard thing to pull off. That balance is what separates a marriage in trouble story that feels real from one that just generates conflict for conflict's sake. T. Bell doesn't take shortcuts here.
I also want to mention the faith element, because I know that can be a dealbreaker for some readers and a draw for others. It's handled with real restraint. It doesn't read like a message being delivered to you. It reads like two people quietly remembering something they had let go of, which felt honest and earned rather than preachy.
This is a four star book for me, not a five, but the emotional core of it has stuck around in a way I didn't fully expect. If you believe that the most romantic thing a story can do is show two people choosing each other again on purpose, with full knowledge of everything that went wrong, this one is worth your time.
Not a 5-star read for me, but a rating is just one reader's experience. If the tropes above are your thing, this could be exactly what you're looking for. I'd rather share it than gatekeep it.
